Illawarra Mercury

Tuesday September 2, 2008

FIVE leading South Coast businesses were honoured at last night's Shoalhaven City Business Person of the Year awards in Nowra.

The major award for Shoalhaven Business Person was won by Soilco boss Tony Emery, a fifth-generation resident of Wogamia on the Shoalhaven River.

The Emery family's dairy and cropping operation branched out into a soil extraction and composting business in the 1980s under Mr Emery's leadership.

Mr Emery holds executive positions on both the Illawarra Business Chamber and the Shoalhaven Business Chamber.

National Cedar Componentry took out the home-based/micro business award, while Shoalhaven Shuttle won for small/medium enterprise.

Turfco took out awards in two categories; large enterprise and sustainable development.

The function was held at the new Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.
