The network slowly returns to life

TRAINS to Kiama and Nowra have resumed after services were halted during Monday's torrential rain and flooding.However, Port Kembla station remains closed while repair work continues. Buses will replace trains between Port Kembla and Port Kembla North while work is carried out.The Illawarra Hwy between the Princes Hwy and Tongarra Rd has reopened after this week's floods.One northbound lane of the Princes Hwy at Kiama Bends remains closed; however, all southbound lanes are open.A number of roads in the Illawarra and South Coast are still affected by the floods.A spokesman for Kiama council said Fountaindale Rd would remain closed for the long term as it was dangerous due to a landslip with much debris on the road.Jamberoo Mountain Rd remains closed to through traffic, although residents can access their properties. Large trees are still being removed from the roadway.Free Selectors Rd is open and it is hoped Wallaby Hill Rd will be re-opened today. The Princes Hwy near Kisses Lagoon at Bega remains closed.A list of the flood-affected state roads can be found online at www.livetrafficnsw.com.au
